“There’s no one here,” she says, looking around the garden. They’re preparing to take the Christmas tree inside.
“Precisely,” he laughs. His mom looks at him in silence, obviously not diverted.
“Are you having a heartache, cookie,” she asks, then.
Karl starts working on the foot of the tree with the small axe, trimming it carefully without answering. Not so much a heartache, he thinks, more of a dick-ache...
But he can’t tell her that, of course.

Dec. 4th, 2018 02:39 pmThere’s a Japanese word referring to a girl who’s a 10 from behind, but butt-ugly when she turns around.
Karl thinks that word should apply to every man around him. Emile, Marc, the tech guys, they’re like running sushi for asses and he follows them with his eyes, wondering whether he’d fuck them like he fucked their Foreign Minister… Yet, there’s nothing face to face.
That’ll be a no from me.
He comes home to another interview with Girard on TV, his face making Karl want to hit all his yes buttons so hard he won’t be able to walk.
