ABOUT

Oldest child of a German-Luxembourgian family, Karl grew up in a healthy, stimulating environment in the suburbs of Luxembourg City. He was loved by his parents and he himself adored his brother, Simon, who was only a year and a half younger than him. They grew up to be almost as close as twins. Karl did well in school and seemed to have a particular knack for language, speaking all three of the recognised languages of Luxembourg fluently before his tenth birthday. He favored German, since it was his mother's native language and the one she'd spoken with them growing up and it would be this language that he looked to pursue when he enrolled with the local university, studying a degree in journalism. He hoped to strengthen the standing and the quality of German media in the country that were otherwise under pressure from its French equivalents. It was also during these years that he began performing in stand-up and soon established a name for himself. However, halfway through his degree, his brother was nearly killed in a car accident and suffered severe head trauma. To get the best possible care for him in the aftermath of the accident, Karl's parents actually had to move to Germany, leaving Karl alone behind in Luxembourg in their old house. Distraught over the system that couldn't help his brother here in Luxembourg, Karl decided to drop out of university and started working as a barista during the day while he focused on his comedy at night. This choice should prove a good one as he was eventually discovered by a TV producer who offered him a weekly fifteen-minute spot on a local channel. It wasn't much, but it should be the opportunity that fueled his career. After a couple of years on local TV, one of his programs were shown as part of a campaign about European standup on Comedy Central and Karl was once again approached by a producer, this time offering him to do a national show, a news satire and talk show along the vein of The Daily Show. Having now done his late night satire, The Spot, for five years, he's become a household name in most of Luxembourg and parts of Germany as well. He lives for his career and only dates girls sporadically. More recently, he's discovered that he's also sexually attracted to men.
